Friends of mine in Bowmansville NY have built a reading rewards program with their elementary school known as "Read to Ride." The core concept of the program is to promote reading through the opportunity to be brought to school on a fire truck. Essentially, if a students reads a certain number of books in a month, their name gets entered into a raffle to ride a fire engine to their school. Just wondering if anyone else has done this before. We've done something similar, except instead of a reading contest we have the younger kids (grades K-3) submit an entry into a fire prevention coloring contest and the older kids (grades 4-6) submit an entry as part of an essay writing contest.

Great way to incorporate fire safety into the schools and it?s good PR for the fire dept.
