  • Any Regional Project Yet?

Maybe I'm just a bit paranoid or something,... but after being in the first wave of 1199's and 10q's for our regional communications project It is now round 4 and still no word on an award.

Have there been any regional projects funded yet?

If not, when could we expect them?

Congrats to all those with good news so far...and to those who will get good news soon!

    Andy

It looks like some people who got 1199As around 9/11 are being awarded this week.

Regionals take more to handle than a single department app because everyone involved gets the once over, not just the request itself. So they have to check all statistics for the allowable amount of equipment, such as radios per total seats on apparatus, etc, etc.

Well having an 1199A is better than hearing nothing, but hearing nothing is better than a DJ. Plenty of time & money left. They tend to spread the regionals out a little bit also because they're usually high $$. So they don't plug them all in the same round to keep the overall money given out each time in the same ballpark. No need to press the panic button yet.

They are taking a while on some of the ones with 1199As, one I worked in NC got theirs in the early stages and took until the end of October to get the questions. But like I said, lots to look over on those compared to individual apps so with only so many eyes to put on the papers sometimes we have to wait a bit. They keep the admin costs down by keeping the staff smaller, so that means more award money, but sometimes slower on the handout side.

Be patient. We were in the same boat with receiving the 10Qs a while back on our regional communications app. Not sure about the 1199a update timeframe since I wasn't involved with the application but the host department's Chief was on the radio this morning saying we are to be awarded.

I don't know "first hand" if this was a Regional Award or not. Our county got a grant in the first round for around $700,000.00 for PPE and SCBA Mask for all the county departments. This covers 22 independent companies.

Regions are what you define them as once it involves more than one organization. So that would be a regional app.
