hmmm
We were in the first batch of 1199a's (listed on the previous years award) and still no award. Getting nervous that we may be the first to get the 10 questions, and no award. Got a reduction email last week, thought maybe we would be announced..but not yet.

This is getting crazy!!
This year has been insane for the AFG grants!! We received our 1199a in Sept, and received the 10q's on 9/28. The answers were returned 9/28. We did receive a call on 10/13 that our grant was being reduced because of the cap on airpacks and compressor/cascade system. Here we are 11/3 and still no award announcement.
Someone in FEMA needs to wake up and get this awards rolled out!! Before we know it we will be submitting 2007 AFG grants and still waiting to hear about our awards for 2006.
Alright I am off my soap box, time to stop and breath..............

Looks like we're still waiting for announcement of our regional communications award too. I wasn't involved with the application but I understand we got the 10qs weeks ago. Not sure about the 1199a however.SFPD Member MABAS Division 47

Anyone with a reduction notice will be later in coming than "normal". Still any way you slice it, it's very slow going. With barely over 20% of the awards announced I doubt they'll get all notifications done in the next 6 weeks. as they still claim to want to do.
But don't take it as an excuse not to get moving on 2007. Simple plans:
A) Funded, need a new project
B) Not funded, no Peer Review
C) Not funded, Peer Review
Each one means something different so start the 2007 project for all 3 scenarios so you have the bases loaded when you find out about 2006.Brian P. Vickers

What's up?
First time replying, but have been reading the post for a while now. I am trying to figure out how to get a grant. We have applied atleast 4 times and have come up empty so far. We tried grant writers/consultants, other departments that have gotten grants and tried on our own. We have letters of endorsement from our congressman and senator and etc... STILL NOTHING. If anyone knows who we have to pay off to get a grant please let me know. To all of those that have received them, congrats!

It starts with a reasonable contribution the admitted membership of "I'm totally freaking out checking..." thread.
This forum, top to bottom, is a great place for education. Careful reading will help you figure out what projects may have a better chance in consideration of your call volume, budget, and (most importantly) the program's objectives. Kurt and Brian both do seminars and they are highly focused on fire grants. I'm more familiar with Kurt's, and it was a worthwhile investment.
Good luck.
