all 2006 polaris rangers awarded?

    Does anybody know of a situation where 2 departments got an ATV from the Ranger program in the same County..(Even differnet years)....Why because a department in my County last year won a polaris, so I was just wondering if this hurt our chances. The application makes it very clear to state what County your located in...Thanks.....

To date, 264 vehicles have been awarded across all 50 states. Continued program funding is subject to the approval of our Corporate Contributions Committee and it can be expanded, reduced or eliminated at any time.

    The Operation Ranger program exists both to recognize the service of our nation’s emergency responders and to provide a versatile, practical vehicle that will enhance emergency response capability at the community level. We gratefully acknowledge the assistance of Polaris Industries, the National Volunteer Fire Council and the many vehicle recipient agencies that have helped us shape this signature program since its inception as a pilot program in late 2002.



    Although we haven't gotten official notification yet our name is listed as being awarded on the website...

    Wow a company that actually wants to do something positive and help out the Fire Service..... Say it ain't so.

    The grant being discussed inthis thread is the annual USSTC/Polaris Ranger program. It is a corporate grant from thes t wo companies and they only give out 60 per year to public safety agencies. No government involvement here. I gaurantee you, not every department in WV applied but, just FYI there were close to 3500 applications recieved for this program this year.

    I was recently in Virginia for my Granny's funeral and talked to a family member. I was asked if it is customary for the Government to issue equipment (example the Polarises that are brought up here) to Volunteer Departments even though they don't necessarily have a need for it.

    My question to them was if their local Department filed for the Polaris or if it was a Statewide Grant that was applied for? My family member didn't understand why they would request for this type of vehicle since they have needs for so many other types of equipment that could actually be used.
