  • Does 6? always equal a grant...

    I am getting very paranoid.

If you recieve the 6 questions, is there a possiblity that you will not recieve a grant?

I have recieved the 6 questions, sent them back, and I havent heard anything for 4-5 weeks.

I can not seem to get ahold of my grant specialist, either by email or by phone.

    This is killing me.

This my first time with the Fire Act Grant so I dont know what to expect.

Maybe I am just all worked up over nothing?

    How about the 1199A

Do you have the 1199A link on your application? If so, have you completed it and returned it to FEMA? The 1199A link was our first sign, with the questions coming about a week later. The total time from the link appearing until we were formally notified was about 4 weeks. Another department in the county got the link a week earlier than us but actually got announced a week later.

No, I dont believe there has been a 1199A link. This is our first application to FEMA.

I have diligently checked that application website and I have not seen the link (I have been lookin for it).

The 6 questions came by email. It said it was the second notice. I immediatly relied.

I just now checked. No link that I can find anywhere on my application site.

I would call the person listed in the e-mail. Our rep was very helpful.

What you're asking has been the big question ever since last year. To date, no one has gotten the 6 (or now 7) questions and not been awarded. Clarification: IF they answered properly, as in agreeing to the audits and reporting to NFIRS as the rules state. But no one has answered them correctly and not been awarded. There may be a bit of time between the questions email and the 1199A link. As of last Thursday there's 4,000+ awardees for a handful of grant specialists, so I'm sure they're being worked to the bone. Just look at how few awards came out, 166 awards, not even $12 million? Compared to the early rounds, they're slowing down, probably because they're dealing with all of those early awardees. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Congrats to all so far, and the rest of us will hang in there.

Here is a cut and paste of my responce, word for word, no spell corrections. Recieved the questions on 9/04/03. I think I answered correct. This is my first go at this grant, so I am very new, very confused, very stressed, and very excited all at once. I realy hope that I dont screw it up!

              1. If you were accepted for an award, would you except it?

Yes we would accept the grant.

              2. If you are selected for a grant award, can your department
meet the required cost -share? How are you planning to meet the required cost- share?

Yes we can meet the cost-share. We will meet it with money already set aside for this FEMA grant.

              3. If you are accepted for an award, do you understand that the
funds can only cover expenses for one year and that you have to spend the funding within one year of your grant award date?

Yes, we would expend the grant in that amount of time.

              4. If you are selected, do that you will be required to report
to NFIRS for at least the period of the grant?

Yes, we do and will report to the NFIRS.

              5. Do you have any changes to your point of contacts, phone
numbers, email addresses, or banking information listed in your application?

              No changes.

              6. Did you have any pre-award cost including the use of a grant
              writer?

              No costs.

              7. Has your fire department relieved any other federal funding
              this fiscal year?

              No federal grants or funding.

              8. What is your favorite color?

Red, no I mean Black, er, no I mean green!!!

Maybe I got number 8 wrong... As you probly guessed, the questions stopped at 7.

              Did I do someting wrong?

I can not get ahold of any grant specialists. Perhaps the hurricane has messed us their work schedual.

This wait is killing me, how long can it take after the questions to hear back or to get the award?

Thanks a bunch, I am stressed out, there is a lot of money and safety concerns riding on this grant.

                THANK THE LORD ALMIGHTY!!!!

Just as I finished my last post, I went to check in on the app page.

                The udate link was there!!!!!

                I am so damn relieved!

Thanks for all of the advice BC79er and all.

No more suicidal SCBAs, no more well cooked bunker gear!

We realy needed this gear, I am pleased and excited beyond words!

We are going to rejoin the modern era! Sure, nothing wrong with the 70s and the gear from then, but us young guys were getting a bit nervouse about our ancient Scott packs.

Since you semi-answered your own question with the post about the link being there, no need for me to pitch in anything but a big CONGRATS.
