I HAVEN'T HEARD OF QUESTIONS BEING LOST BUT MY ANSWERS WERE. RECEIVED 1199A LAST FRI. AND QUESTIONS ON MON. REPLIED WITHIN 2 HOURS, TOOK 3 TRIES TO GET MESSAGE SENT NOTIFICATION. GOT CALL FROM FEMA REP THIS (FRI) AFTERNOON ASKING IF I HAD RECEIVED QUESTIONS. ANSWERED QUESTIONS ON PHONE AND FAXED ANSWERES TO HER. I TYPED THEM IN WORD AND PASTED THEM TO E-MAIL AFTER 1ST TRY SO I HAD PRINTED COPY IN MY FOLDER TO FAX HER FROM WORK.
INTERNET HAS BEEN REALLY SLOW AROUND HERE. DSL IS ALMOST UP TO DIAL UP SPEED NOW ALMOST 4 WEEKS AFTER LIGHTNING STRIKE ON MY ROAD ALMOST DESTROYED PHONE SERVICE IN OUR RURAL AREA.
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF INTERNET IN GENERAL HAS BEEN SLOW OR IF MY PROBLEMS ARE DUE TO LOCAL PROBLEMS.

Dont feel bad, Some how things seem to get either lost or something. I received the 6 questions on July 30, The 1199 form on the week after but didnt know it was there, found the 1199 form on Aug. 22 and sent it Fed Ex. Received confirmation that the 1199A form was accepted on Aug. 27, and confirmation on the 6 questions on Aug. 28, Hopefully from talking with everyone we will here something this coming week after the holiday. Your email may not have been lost, but instead misplaced. Hopefully everything works out for you. We are hoping the same. We have pulled all of our hair out waiting.

You said that you received confirmation that the 1199a was accepted. By whom? FEMA received it or they approved it. How where you notified?

From FEMA. I received confirmation that our 1199A form had been accepted by the FEMA finacial system and that the information would be used when FEMA makes payments to us when requested.

Jay, Did FEMA let you know via e-mail or phone when the 1199a was accepted. I sent ours overnite air via US postal service and when I called the help desk I was told that it went to somewhere in Ohio for De-Con and would take a few more days.
            Thanks

Got ya all beat!!! One of the departments I wrote for received their 6 questions on July 11. They told us there was no need for an 1199A sincce there were no changes from last year. That is the last I have heard. I sent a couple of emails to make sure they were not waiting on anything from us, and both times I got no response. Not a good sign.

FFCOPEMT don't sweat it we got the 6 questions on July 10 and were just awarded in round 12. I do know the gut wrentching you feel but I think you will be happy soon. You know the 6 questions is very important. Also, a mutual aid dept got their 6 questions the same week and are still waiting for the 1199a. We didn't have to update due to being awarded last year but this will be their first grant so they need the 1199a. Hang in there and good luck, not that luck has anything to do with it.

I received the reply via email, but it was in a message on the application. I had to go there and check my application and found it. Read it and made a copy. I had sent it FED Ex. cost me more, but did not trust the postal service. Ha.

                    UPDATE on 6 questions saga:

I again received the "questions" via e-mail today, which were sent by a different FEMA rep. I telephoned her to say that we answered the same questions back on July 11, 2003. She said that the "Tim" who handled our application was no longer with FEMA, and in taking over his work, they were finding that many departments had already been contacted with the questions, but were not referred for further review for some reason. I got the impression that Tim's departure may have had something to do with his job performance. Anyway, the new rep assured me they were trying to catch up with everything he had let go or lost. I hope no department gets left out because they slipped through this guy's keyboard! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that FEMA finds them all.

                      coincidence?

You want to know something strange.. Yesterday the 2nd, after all that has went on.. I received the same phone call asking the same questions.. I told the lady I spoke with that I had recieved the same questions from another woman 4 weeks ago. She told me the same thing, that for some reason, things had slipped through someone somewhere. Pretty weird if you ask me. Food for thought for everyone else that are in the same boat we are.
