  • Jump the Gun?

I was awakened this AM by a phone call from the chief congratulating me for writing a successful grant. One of the other members saw it on the morning news and called him. The Tv news has it plastered all over the county that we won a $130,000 FEMA grant. My son said they stopped by the station last night wanting to see the new equipment.

The only thing is, I'm the primary contact person and nobody told me yet! I checked the FEMA web site and my e-mail and snail mail. Doesn't appaer to be anything on any of them. I'm kind of chuckling to myself

Unfortunately, the announcements are given to politicians first. You probably did win, and your email will reach you soon. Guess it gives the politicians a chance to look like the good guys...

Did you get the 1199a and the six questions prior to this or is this the first you have heard?

        Congratulations!

I got the 1199a back on the 17th and the 6 questions yesterday. Today I received an email back saying that the 6 questions were received and my application has been moved to the next phase. The news, radio, and Senators/Reps in this area tend not to mention this stuff until a few days after the rewarding.

I was hoping I could make an announcment at our August monthly meeting tonight (the meeting is early because of our carnival), but I don't want to jump the gun and mention something.

If you receive the 1199a and 6 questions, what is the possibility that you will not receive a grant?

So anyway, what did you ask for?

We asked for a new SCBA compressor, 30 voice amplifiers to personal issue with Scott masks, and a smoke machine.

Just got home from a college visit at SUNY Brockport with the daughter. Our representative apparently had a press release last night that the media picked up. It would be nice if they gave us a call first though.

We applied for a new cascade fill station. Our old Eagle has been down more than it is up lately and we fill the portable cascade systems of our surrounding departments. We also will be replacing all our Scott 2.2's with 4.5's (14 of them) and 25 sets of new turnouts for our interior guys.

Now I guess we just have to wade through the paper work. We still haven't official notice from FEMA,though it is posted on thier web site.
