Out of the departments that have received grant awards this year, how many have received the 6 questions or some type of notification before the announcement of receiving the grant? If you did receive the 6 questions, how long after did your department appear on the notification list?

FEMA called our dept on June 4th and left a message, but on June 6th after we hadn't returned the call yet, They called our Chief's home phone. They asked him the 6 questions and said we would know something soon. Also after logging into the online grant system, we noticed an Update 1199a link on the status page (where it has View Application, Revoke/Grant Access). We called and asked about it and they told us to go ahead and complete that form, take it by the bank for them to sign, then mail it to FEMA.
On June 18th, we received a call from our senator's office congratulating us. June 20th we received the official email from FEMA.
We were awarded $55,791 for gear and airpacks.
Wish you good luck!

There won't be. They have to have an updated 1199A and 6 questions answered prior to announcement, so if you're not quick enough, you get bumped back a round. Not bumped out of the money, just pushes back the public announcement.Brian P. Vickers

things are looking up! (?)
After returning home from an unfounded call at 4:30 this morning, I found my Direct Deposit 1199A e-mail dated today, July 9th. I'll get that taken care of today and we'll see how things progress from here on out. I don't want to get my hopes too high, but this is the first time this has happened after three tries in three years.
Keep the faith!

this is the 6 questions:
I am the Grants Management Specialist from the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) Grants Office, assigned to review your FY 2003 grant
application. This email message is not a notification of award, it is only
a preliminary discussion of your application. A panel of your peers
favorably reviewed your application and I have a few matters to
discuss/verify with you prior to further processing of your application:
1. If you are selected for an award, would you accept?
2. If you are selected for a grant award, can your department meet the
required cost-share? How are you planning to meet the required cost-share?
3. If you are selected for an award, do you understand that the funds
can only cover expenses for one year and that you have to spend the funding
within one year of your grant award date?
4. If you are selected, do you understand that you will be required to
report to NFIRS for at least the period of the grant?
5. Do you have any changes to your point of contacts, phone numbers,
email addresses, or banking information listed in your application?
6. Did you have any pre-award costs including the use of a grant
writer?
Again, this email message is not a notification of award, it is only a
discussion of your application. Once I complete my review, and receive your
favorable reply to this message, I will forward your application on to the
next phase. If your department is selected you will be notified by e-mail
through our on-line grants system. In that email, you will be directed to a
website to print the award forms and other pertinent information.
