East Cypress Fire Department, Faulkner County, Arkansas was notified today by Senator Lincoln's office that our project totaling $92,500 was to be funded and we would be contacted by FEMA shortly.
Project included:
12 sets of Structure and Wildland PPE
Upgrade of 10 SCBA to current standards with integrated passes and buddy breathers.
6 new SCBAs with extra bottles
2 RIT Paks
Thermal Image Camera
Generator Set
5 Dual Band UHF/VHF Radios
Complete Multimedia Training Library and 24 Essentails Manuals
We are a small rural volunteer department that operates on an annual budget of $18,000. We have doubled our membership in recent years and this funding will provide all Fire Fighters with needed PPE. The SCBA upgrades and additional packs will meet all ISO requirments for our apparatus and provide additional air. Our fill station is 15 miles away. The dual band radios will assist with communicatiuons with our aid partners in the next county who operate on UHF vs VHF in our county. Tanker shuttles are the norm here. The Thermal Imager is a welcome tool and great addition to our capabilities. The training library will improve our capability to train our new members in house in a timely manner. We are most thankful for this award and wish all applicants the best of luck. For your info our grant was written in house. We attended the FEMA presentation and 2 grant writing seminars. Good luck to all!
