Has anyone tried to request funds in FEMA Go? I see no way to do it.

Well nothing's stopping that, if you weren't on the awards list you're getting the denial/have already been denied. Totaled $315M so that's all she wrote.

Got word yesterday that they are still working on payment request, turndown emails and the moving of all previous grants from old system to FEMA GO. Jeff

It would be hard to imagine that the 2019 AFG application period would open prior to the complete loading of all 2018 AFG applications into FEMA.GO. If only a portion of the 2018 applications were loaded, I believe that those applicants (who had 2018 applications already loaded) might have a clear advantage in applying for 2019 in the short time period normally allowed (one month).

Won't really mean much since the narrative sections aren't likely to be altered, so no advantage to those with 2018s in GO already from an admin standpoint. The old portal is still functioning so folks can access their 2018 apps there if they weren't awarded. New applications don't copy much from prior years even in the old portal so the few extra minutes of typing won't affect anything. I would expect the layout to be about the same with the exception of the banking info being removed from the Applicant Info page since that's linked in SAM.

I disagree. If you already have an application loaded into FEMA.GO, you already have a sense of the structural organization of an (existing) application. In addition, past posts have already indicated that the narratives are going to be restructured.

Everyone should have an even playing field. AFG has become too competitive to allow anyone any advantage.

Yes and no, but what's the difference if the truck fleet is now it's own page versus being part of Dept Characteristics 2? The same information is going to be needed for statistics and narratives. If you're doing your own app it means you have 6-7 weeks to get the format together for a single application.

You're also giving them too much credit thinking they're going to reprogram the whole format and have it functioning much differently. Same info is needed, same arguments need to be made. When they moved from a single 20k narrative to the current split I didn't skip a beat and I enter 100s each app period. You're overthinking things.

Besides the fact if your app isn't loaded get a copy of someone else's, all apps are covered by FOIA because they're taxpayer funded and don't contain any homeland security information that isn't readily available on most department websites and Facebook pages. If someone doesn't share then request a copy through the helpdesk. Workshops will start before the app period opens so get a copy of the PPT if you can't get to one since they'll have screen shots of the planned format. Field reps will email them to you, they aren't protected secrets. Problem solved.

Just wondering if there's any news to share about the Go Portal, specifically when we might be able to submit amendments or drawdown money. Thanks for any info you can share.

                          Good morning,

The Payment Request module is in final testing and should be available late November, early December.

However, payment is reimbursement and can be drawn no earlier than 30 days prior to payment.

This is the email I received today.

In other words, I wouldn't order anything until you hear that someone has successfully received payment, otherwise vendors will be getting real cranky real quick.

Unless, of course, you can afford to write the check and wait an unlimited amount of time for reimbursement. Which begs a little of the question on why the grant was needed. LOL

Pretty much. We have some that are dealing with cylinder expiration dates that they can't wait on for more than a couple weeks, but been telling people a lot of vendors have cylinders laying around that they took back with more months on them. Do your bid work, chose a vendor, work a deal to borrow the used cylinders until the payment request code finally works.
