  • Old Engine Sale

We received an AFG FV award last year and are now in the process of evaluating the sale of the old vehicle that is being replaced. We are aware of the stipulations and rules regarding the sale. A few things we are considering are listing it with a private collector requirement or potentially selling it over sees. With all the do's and don'ts whatever we decide to do we just want to make sure it is within the guidelines. Has anyone done something similar or have any suggestions?

Unless it is really something special, don't expect a lot from selling it overseas. I shipped a number of ambulances to Haiti back in the 80's, and the cost was terrible. If it does not fit in a container, it is nuts. PM sent

It can go to a private collecter, kept as a parade piece, or sold to a broker. The latter is allowed for viable vehicles because as dealers they have to ensure safety metrics prior to a resale. It can be used as a trade in also when buying the new truck because your dealer is also a broker per se with the same safety requirements on resale. As long as you relinquish the title to someone other than another FD, what happens after that is no concern of DHS or the grant, or your department anymore.
