The department I work for has a fleet that has 4 engines-1990,96', 2-98', 1-ladder-1996, and our medium duty rescue truck-1997. We are currently looking at remounting the medium duty rescue on a new chasis. The question I have is first will our fleet's age take out any chance at getting a AFG in 2011, 2nd will the fact that it is a Medium Duty Rescue do the same in regards to the chance of getting funding. I am planning on figuring out the costs associated with keeping this vehicle up and running the past few years. Thanks in advance for your help.

The short answer is yes & yes.
Your fleet age is low overall and there have been VERY few rescue truck grant as they are not priority 1 level vehicles. It is only 14 years old so will stand a very low chance.
A rechassis is considered the same as a new vehicle application. -
A lot would depend upon your classification. Are you rural, suburban or urban?Chad I beleieve you guys are considered "suburban" as you have 25K pop if I remember right. In that case a rescue is Priority 2 for you and as such you would have "0" chance on a rechassis.Pick another project guy!Last edited by ktb9780; 04-13-2011, 04:09 PM.Kurt Bradley
