  • Regional Grant Help and Ideas

I am thinking about applying next FEMA grant cycle for a regional grant to purchase an oxygen generating system, to be shared by up to 42 departments in our area. Our county has 42 departments and i want to approach all of them about being in on the grant. I have no expectation that all of them will want to partake, but i have a reality that maybe 15 or so would.

i have never done, or been part, of a regional grant. Is there documentation or information that i need to provide that will show that what each department wants in? I realize that regional grants they usually like to show equipment in each station, but with this generating unit stationed at our county emergency services office, available for all to use, would that be a sustainable idea to sell to FEMA?

Has anyone every written for, or received such an item?

Any experience with this type of unit?

    thanks for the help.

Not eligible as a regional, same reason a trailer mounted compressor system isn't. If everyone can't physically get something to put in their stations then it doesn't pass the litmus test. Only gray area that's been approved before is a live burn trailer to go along with funding for certification classes.

Dare I ask, what kind of pricing are you seeing on these? The ones I have seen are terribily expensive, and even worse to maintain. The cost in keeping them to FDA standards is outrageous.

I have seen a couple of counties work a deal with a local hospital.

What about a regional grant for 2-4 departments to replace and standardize thermal imaging cameras? Would this qualify as a regional application?

Nope, no claim of interoperability flies with that app, it's just an equipment dump application to use their terms. Only LDH, training, and communications are eligible in regional apps. LDH only because we're physically connecting hose on major incidents, so it's all 4 and 5 inch lines plus applicances. Nothing under 4inch is eligible on them.
