One of the best tactical ideas I got was when leaving Reno riding the shuttle from the casino to the airport with hoser.

I may have to pull out funds from the bank account I set up for cash match donations. Not my departments hard earned money.

    I wanna go to Nashville.
Let's see those same people that jam24u and catch22 have encountered probably should be asked questions such as:
    • Why they have a HD color tv vs a good old b/w?
    • Why they got rid of their pefectly running 1962 Chevy they had in high school?
    • Why do they have a cell phone?
    • Why do they use email instead of snail mail?
    • Why they went on to high school after the 8th grade?
    • Why they have electricity intheir homes, when wood stoves and kerosene lamps work just great?

The answer to all of which is , things change and you have to keep up or get left behind!

A couple of weeks to go still and we have about 22 in the class so far. Lots of room if anyone still wants to attend give me a shout.

I would love to make it up for this. I need all the help I can get when it comes to grants. The short AFG workshop we had locally last year pretty much filled me in what exactly I DIDN'T know about the whole process.

Good news is that I was told by the chief and a council member from my volunteer department that we needed to get back on the ball with grant writing, and that the city would fund whatever the cost was. If I can get the time off from the paid gig, I may very well make it.

            Dude,,,,

Just the contacts you make are worth the expense. It is a superior grantwriting atmosphere. The grant writers there will be the best in the nation and they help everyone.

It appears that Embassy Suites is booked solid.... Where is everyone not staying there gonna stay?

I'm guessing that the conference "block" of rooms (discounted rate) is full, but on the Embassy Suites website there still shows availability from Tuesday-Saturday. (Although for the price, I'm sure an off site property is a much better idea!)

                      Nashville

I will be there, from Waterford MI.

I missed out on Reno, but went to Tampa. Looking forward to Nashville.

                        backup camera

Looking forward to seeing you all in nashville quick question, does anyone know if a backup camera is required by nfpa 1901. I am puting together a spec for an awarded tanker and wondering if it is covered.

                        Thanks

We just got done doing our specs and award to bidder. I did not see it in NFPA 1901, but we did get it. Very little cost compared to everything else, plus you can't put a price on the safety factor it has. Don't need to run over your own guy or a little kid on a bike.

It is mentioned in 1901, but not a requirement.

NFPA 1901 A.13.12 states, "The purchaser might wish to add camera(s) at the sides or rear of vehicles with cab monitoring screens or automatic vehicle stopping devices that sense an obstruction at the rear of the vehicle".

We have one on our ladder truck and is a great tool when backing up.

Probably would be very beneficial for a tanker, especially if some one is operating it alone and doesn't have a spotter.

                              Im in!!!

Sorry for the absence, I have been with SLY at AA meetings. Seriously, was a question mark for a while, until I hit a homerun for a nearby dept. (See $875K aerial). Jeff will be in attendance, and looking forward to seeing everyone. I scoped out Nashville on New years Eve and have to report, that up until around 0045 hours Broadway looked great, after that, have no clue.
Got my first DJ in 5 years for my own department, still one out there looking good. Damn Chiefs do not understand what the PG is, as a Captain, I say yessir, take the OT and write what they want.
Enuf for now, Heads up those driving in, Me thinks Lyman, Welch and another will be plowing down I65 from Michicgan on Tuesday.....John care to comment?

Congrats to all the new Millionaires this year, if that doesnt validate what Kurt has provided and allowed us to do, nothing else does.

See yall Tuesday night, no fake cowboys needed.

Good to hear you are going to make it Jeff. Would not be the same without you. Got my eye set on a stage somewhere on Broadway, maybe Tootsie's.
