  • NYS bailout system

Looking at options for next years grant. We are looking at applying for funds to help offset the cost of NY's unfunded mandate for the firefighter's bailout systems. The law has been on the books since 2008 I believe. Was wondering how many if any had been successful at getting a grant for the rope, desceding devies, harnesses, etc. Concerned that since its just a NYS law and that the FDNY are exempt from it might make it seem like a minor or unnecessary issue to peer reviewers from other parts of the country.

We've been using that to get them funded in NY and other states. Got some funded that included the manufacturer's training program and OT for some paid departments to cover the costs to go. State law or now we need to have an 'oh fudge' means of egress. I've carried webbing and a caribiner in my gear for dang near all 17 years, wrap a tool, bury it in something, and I'm out. Bailout kit would be much nicer/easier for a couple hundred bucks.

What other states are eligible for that grant?

Brian....any chance of dropping me an email of any grants out there available for me to take to our grant committee meeting this month. I know FP&S is coming up and I had the Fire Marshal for the city think of things they needed this year. But any other grants that you can help us with I would gladly take to them.
