FDNY LODD-1st Since 9/11 (The Secret list)
FDNY Firefighter James J. (Jimmy) O'Shea, 41, died Saturday evening from a heart attack after feeling ill while fighting a fire in Queens. Reports are that he refused medical attention at the scene and later went home... where he then asked for EMS... but sadly passed away soon after. O'Shea, who was assigned to Ladder Co. 127 in Queens, is survived by his wife and two children. A funeral was planned for Friday; details were pending. FF O'Shea's tragic passing is the first line of duty death since 9/11. We received numerous e-mails about Jimmy's passing... the following comment sums up how many people who wrote-felt about him...
"Jimmy was one of the most knowledgeable firefighters I have ever known... he will be sorely missed... what a loss for the job, his family and especially his kids..."
As always, we offer our deepest condolences to the family of FF Jimmy O'Shea.
NOTE: We further remind ourselves and TSL members--we have all been on scenes where one of "our own" wasn't feeling well... but decided to refuse help or see how they feel later, etc, etc... or we have even done that ourselves. If you think there is a problem--or know of one, no matter how minor--get that member to the hospital ASAP without excuse or delay. Don't give any member the chance to refuse--make it a direct order if you have to. Do it in the memory of FF Jimmy O'Shea.
We pass those thoughts on at the request of one TSL member who loved and will miss Firefighter Jimmy O'Shea deeply.
Take Care,
BillyG

Take Care,
BillyG
