2002 F43 Barking 4 pump fire, cylinders involved at Graylands Yard on River Rd, 1-sty warehouse and workshop 85m x 35m with heavy fire showing, two 50kg propane cylinders, one 300 litre diesel tank and one waste oil tank involved, using 4 jets and 1 ground monitor, TIC.

MAJOR EMERGENCY STRUCTURE FIRE
On Thursday, September 4, 2003 at 1343 hours nineteen companies of Firefighters, six Rescue Ambulances, seven Battalion Command Teams, one EMS Battalion Captain and two helicopters under the direction of Assistant Chief Michael Fulmis responded to reported smoke from the roof of a fifteen-story high-rise at 111 North Hope Street in the Civic Center/Bunker Hill area. First units on scene did report smoke showing from the roof of the Department of Water and Power building. Additional resources were requested including two helicopters for observation as firefighters made their way up the stairwells to locate the source of the fire. Upon arriving to the roof firefighters discovered a 15’ x 15’ area of roofing that was burning. Fire personnel using handlines confined the fire to the area of origin and extinguished the fire in twenty-nine minutes with the majority of the time getting to the roof and locating the fire. No injuries were reported. Approximately four thousand employees and one hundred civilians were evacuated by the Fire Department in coordination with building safety personnel. The cause of the fire was incendiary and the loss was estimated at $2500 to structure only.

CDF currently has 19 people assigned to overhead positions in Montana. An additional 4 CDF strike teams (which consists of 20 engines and 66 personnel) 2 of the strike teams are enroute back and 2 are in Montana). CDF currently has 2,261 people assigned to large incidents in California. CDF currently has 35% (137 of 336) of its fire engines and 47% (93 of 200) of its fire crews committed to all incidents statewide at this time. OES has 10 engines and 4 personnel committed on incidents statewide. Local Government has 45 engines and 4 personnel committed on incidents statewide. Local Government is covering many CDF stations in Region II.
This year to date, within CDF and Contract County SRA, there have been: 15 residences, 0 commercial structures, and 66 outbuildings destroyed.

Code Amber is a missing persons broadcast emergency response system that was developed to help speed the notification process of missing children across North America and Canada. The entire process takes about 90 seconds per child. This allows hundreds of parents to take advantage of the event daily! Each parent receives an 8x11" laser printed 'Bio-Doc'® with each child's fingerprints and digital photograph along with a 3.5" diskette with the information contained in HTML (web) format. These invaluable documents can significantly speed up the notification process when used in a missing child emergency.

MAJOR EMERGENCY STRUCTURE FIRE
On Thursday, September 4, 2003 at 1343 hours nineteen companies of Firefighters, six Rescue Ambulances, seven Battalion Command Teams, one EMS Battalion Captain and two helicopters under the direction of Assistant Chief Michael Fulmis responded to reported smoke from the roof of a fifteen-story high-rise at 111 North Hope Street in the Civic Center/Bunker Hill area. First units on scene did report smoke showing from the roof of the Department of Water and Power building. Additional resources were requested including two helicopters for observation as firefighters made their way up the stairwells to locate the source of the fire. Upon arriving to the roof firefighters discovered a 15’ x 15’ area of roofing that was burning. Fire personnel using handlines confined the fire to the area of origin and extinguished the fire in twenty-nine minutes with the majority of the time getting to the roof and locating the fire. No injuries were reported. Approximately four thousand employees and one hundred civilians were evacuated by the Fire Department in coordination with building safety personnel. The cause of the fire was incendiary and the loss was estimated at $2500 to structure only.

CDF currently has 19 people assigned to overhead positions in Montana. An additional 4 CDF strike teams (which consists of 20 engines and 66 personnel) 2 of the strike teams are enroute back and 2 are in Montana). CDF currently has 2,261 people assigned to large incidents in California. CDF currently has 35% (137 of 336) of its fire engines and 47% (93 of 200) of its fire crews committed to all incidents statewide at this time. OES has 10 engines and 4 personnel committed on incidents statewide. Local Government has 45 engines and 4 personnel committed on incidents statewide. Local Government is covering many CDF stations in Region II.
This year to date, within CDF and Contract County SRA, there have been: 15 residences, 0 commercial structures, and 66 outbuildings destroyed.

Sonoma Lake Napa Unit – 30 lightning fires, 5 arson fires, 24 contained
Includes Morgan Valley/Hidden Valley – 2,400 acres; Brush Fires – 150 acres; Middle Lake – 150 acres; New Long Valley – 50 acres; 40 Fire near Rumsey Canyon – 40 acres
· Containment % - 50%
· Estimated containment date – N/A
· Fire started 09/03/03 @ 1200 hours
· Cause – Lightning
· 0 injuries
· Firefighting resources: 1204 firefighters (1021 CDF), 95 engines (42 CDF),(15 LG), (10 OES), 40 fire crews (40 CDF), 33 dozers (16 CDF), 11 helicopters (5 CDF), (4 CNG), 0 air tankers (0 CDF), 16 water tenders (0 CDF), 100 overhead (96 CDF), (2 OES)
· Comments: Containment efforts are occurring on all fires. Resources will be shifted as fire activity increases.
Mendocino Unit – 93 lightning fires, 53 contained; assigning resources to unstaffed fires. All fires are in timber fuels.
Significant acreage fires: Laytonville – 20 acres staffed; Booneville – 25 acres staffed; Covelo – 7 fires 5 – 10 acres; some of these are very remote and with access problems.

Tehema Glenn Unit – 33 lightning fires, 33 contained
Significant fires are: Kelley – 30 acres, contained; Baker – 40 acres; contained; Elk Creek – 450 acres; contained.

· Comments: All known fires contained as of this morning. Aerial reconnaissance for the Unit will occur today. Expect more fires to appear.
Humboldt Del Norte Unit – 53 fires, 40 contained
Significant fires are: Gilman Buttes – 1 acre, very high growth potential; Honey Dew Creek – 30 acres; Kings Range – 50 acres; Lacks Creek – 2 acres; Whitethorn – fire in top of old growth Redwood tree, nearby school threatened by embers.

· Containment % - Various
· Estimated containment date – N/A
· Fire started 09/03/03 @ 1000 to 1400 hours
· Cause – Lightning

· Firefighting resources: 373 firefighters (366 CDF), 19 engines (18 CDF), 8 fire crews (8 CDF), 2 dozers (2 CDF), 2 helicopters (0 CDF),

· Comments: All fires in the southern portion of the Unit. Kings Range fires are heating rapidly. Additional resources arriving in Unit.
Shasta Trinity Unit – 17 fires, 16 contained
Significant fires are: Shoemaker near Rainbow Lake (23 miles west of Redding) – 1 acre, contained; Mammoth – (north of French Gulch) – ¼ acre, using helicopter to determine access, uncontained.

Tahoe National Forest – 14 lightning fires, all staffed; 12 contained
COD COMPLEX (Placer County-Tahoe National Forest- Chickenhawk Ridge, Foresthill Area)

· Fire burning in very steep and inaccessible terrain between east and west branches of the middle fork of the American River.
· Scattered structures in the area.
Eldorado National Forest – 3 lightning fires, 3 contained
Plumas National Forest – 13 lightning fires, all contained
Lassen National Forest – 3 lightning fires, 3 contained
Modoc National Forest – 1 lightning fire, contained
Mendocino National Forest – 80 lightning fires, 17 contained significant potential for large fires. Grindstone Complex west of Willows ordered one Type 1 Team (Vail), 200 plus acres. Smokehouse Complex near Lake Pillsbury coordinated by one Type 2 Team (Szczepanick);
Six Rivers National Forest – 9 lightning fires, 7 staffed, 2 unstaffed
Blue Jay Fire contained at 15 acres.
Shasta Trinity National Forest – 11 lightning fire, 8 staffed, 3 receiving resources this morning.
Redwood National Park – 14 lightning fires, all staffed

Code Amber is a missing persons broadcast emergency response system that was developed to help speed the notification process of missing children across North America and Canada. The entire process takes about 90 seconds per child. This allows hundreds of parents to take advantage of the event daily! Each parent receives an 8x11" laser printed 'Bio-Doc'® with each child's fingerprints and digital photograph along with a 3.5" diskette with the information contained in HTML (web) format. These invaluable documents can significantly speed up the notification process when used in a missing child emergency.
MESAR will be holding a Code Amber Event on 12-13 September 2003 in southern Illinois where parents can bring their children to receive their very own Bio-Docs.
