*** REPORT FROM THE LINE OF FIRE ***
LOS ANGELES, CA:
COLLAPSED STRUCTURE:
On Friday, August 15, 2003, at 1849 hours (6:49 p.m.) five companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, one Battalion Command Officer Team, Urban Search & Rescue, one Battalion EMS Supervisor, and Heavy Rescue 56, under the direction of Battalion Commander Craig Fry, responded to the report of a Collapsed Structure at 6406 W. Franklin Avenue in the Hollywood area. First units on the scene reported a two-story, nineteen unit center hallway apartment with a partial roof collapse. During the initial and secondary search and rescue operation, Firefighters were able to ascertain that no one was trapped inside the collapsed portion of the structure and that everyone was safely out the building. As a result of the collapse, two units in the building were heavily damaged. Twenty-five tenants were displaced from the building as a safety precaution and assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported and the cause of the collapse is under investigation by Building and Safety.

CAROLINAS FIRE PAGE
In honor of all the Firefighters of FDNY, CFP has completed a special project that began more than one year ago.
We have completed and uploaded fire station maps of FDNY, broken down by Division and Battalion.
All fire stations are shown in accurate detail, in most cases to exact street level detail. All front line companies are shown as well as special units. Also included are volunteer companies, Fire Patrol units, FDNY Fire Zone, Boro Comm Offices and the new locations for Boro Commands.
To our knowledge, this information does not exist in this graphic format, on the internet or otherwise.
In addition, we have also prepared a special page entitled "9-11 Incident Log"
This is a timeline of the events of Sept 11, 2001 along with a log of our pages sent out that grim day. Included are "behind the scenes" administrative pages between dispatchers.
Be advised that our new site uses flash graphics extensively, so we recommend you having the latest free flash plug-in from Macromedia. Instructions for obtaining this small software are located on our entry page.
Regards,
Jeff Harkey

*** FireNet Group Of The Day: ***
CFN, Columbia Fire Net, is a product of the Columbia, Missouri Fire Department. It was established to provide information via pagers to Chief Officers, Rescue and HazMat Team members and eventually to any interested CFD member. The pagers are provided at no cost to CFD members. With 4 pin options available, members could select any 2 additional types of pages. Obviously their individual pin, then a CFD all call pin and their choice of 2 more. About 2 dozen elected to receive CFN as one of their options. As of this writing there are 4 who are authorized to send out national pages. National paging will remain a very closely held authority. Since we are new, we have a rather steep learning curve. As Fire Chief, Wm. Markgraf is the nominal head of the system. The other 3 "national dispatchers" are employees of the CFD.
The telephone number for the Columbia Fire Department is 573 874 7391.
Home number for Darrin Arends is 573 687 3461.

The CFD Web Page is: http://www.ci.columbia.mo.us which is the citywide page, then select the fire department.
Other dispatchers include Battalion Chief Ron McCord, Lieutenant Steve Sapp, and Engineer Dan McGavick. We sign by CFN/(and then our LAN identifications which is usually our initials.) For "snail mail" communications we may be reached at:
