    LOS ANGELES, CA:

    MULTI-VICTIM TRAFFIC COLLISION:


    On Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 0917 Hours (9:17 AM PDT), four Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, eight LAFD Rescue Ambulances, the LAFD Heavy Rescue Company, two EMS Battalion Captains and on Chief Officer Command Team, all under the direction of Assistant Chief Robert DeFeo responded to a multi-victim traffic collision near 100 South Broadway in the Civic Center area. According to witnesses, a two-vehicle collision between a black pickup and a maroon sport-utility, caused the former vehicle to subsequently strike a pair of in-service and occupied MTA transit buses. Firefighters worked to free the lightly trapped victims in the passenger vehicles while an effective and efficient triage was established. Firefighters treated and later transported a total of nine adult patients to area hospitals via LAFD Ambulance, including one witness who experienced chest pain. Los Angeles Police Department officials will be handling the investigation.


    MULTI-VICTIM TRAFFIC COLLISION:

    On Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 2054 Hours (8:54 PM PDT), three Companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, nine LAFD Rescue Ambulances and one EMS Battalion Captain under the direction of 9th Battalion Commander Michael Little responded to a multi-victim traffic collision on the Southbound San Diego (405) Freeway north of Olympic Boulevard in Westwood. The first arriving Company reported a four-vehicle collision with two vehicles overturned. Firefighters quickly established scene safety and liaison with the California Highway Patrol as they triaged and briskly treated a total of twelve patients, all of whom were transported to area hospitals via LAFD Ambulance. Officials from the California Highway Patrol will be handling the investigation.
