    LOS ANGELES, CA:
    GREATER ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE:

On Thursday, June 05, 2003, at 1617 hours (4:17 p.m.) ten companies of Los Angeles Firefighters, three Battalion Command Teams, three LAFD Rescue Ambulances, and other support units, under the direction of Assistant Chief Michael S. Fulmis, responded to a Greater Alarm Structure Fire at 5400 West Moco Lane in the Hollywood Hills area. First units on the scene reported a large two-story, hillside, single family dwelling with heavy fire on the second floor and in the attic. Firefighters were initially hampered by limited access to the structure and to the fire floor due to the location of the home on the hillside. Using handlines, firefighters aggressively attacked the fire and extinguished it in approximately thirty-eight minutes. The fire was confined to the second floor, attic, and a small amount of grass (good brush clearance prevented fire spread to the nearby brush) behind the structure. Two occupants in the structure at the time of the fire suffered minor smoke inhalation and were transported to Queen of Angels/Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital in good condition. No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is listed as “undetermined/under investigation”. Fire damage is estimated at $700,000. ($500,000 structure and $200,000 contents)
