SunTrust building evacuated due to smoke
MURDOCK -- Employees and visitors to one of Charlotte County's largest buildings were evacuated Friday afternoon after smoke appeared on the third floor.
Around 1 p.m., Charlotte County firefighters responded to the five-story SunTrust building, 18501 Murdock Circle. They searched each floor, finding smoke only on the third floor.
While they were never able to pinpoint the exact source of the smoke, it is believed an air handler may have been responsible, said Fire & EMS public information officer Dee Hawkins.
Employees from accounting and law firms, WINK-TV and other businesses in the SunTrust building were evacuated for about 90 minutes.
