Briefs: Three false fire alarms at one FSU dormitory

Three false fire alarms
at one FSU dormitory

Tallahassee firefighters were called out to Florida State University's Salley Hall three times early Monday - and each time was a false alarm, Tallahassee Fire Department spokeswoman Pat Teague said. All three false alarms - at 1:42 a.m., 3 a.m. and 4:49 a.m. - were triggered at the same pull box on the second floor of the residence hall, leading fire officials to suspect the same person or group of people were involved, Teague said. The false alarms came about two weeks after an incident at Kellum Hall, also on the FSU campus, in which someone lit firecrackers under a smoke detector and sprinkler system and set off a fire extinguisher into a corridor. To head off further problems, TFD officials plan to meet next week with administrators at FSU, Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College, Teague said.
