DELAND -- Lightning stunned four construction workers Monday after a bolt struck the unfinished DeLand High School auditorium, fire officials said.
The workers were on a raised platform inside the open-roof auditorium when the building was struck by lightning, DeLand Fire Capt. Terry Griffiths said.
None of the four appeared hurt when firefighters arrived on the scene and all refused treatment, Griffiths said. There was no damage to the building.
The new auditorium is part of a multi-phase $50 million facelift for the school. Several older classrooms also are being updated. The construction is expected to be completed by December 2004.
