    Fellsmere attic blaze

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An attic fire at a home south of Fellsmere is not expected to displace the family living there, firefighters said Wednesday.

Indian River Fire and Rescue personnel doused the blaze at 12355 83rd St., which began about 5 p.m. Wednesday. Battalion Chief John Freeman said the fire was contained in the attic of the one-story home, with minimal damage in the base of the home.

No one was injured in the fire. Freeman said the cause of the fire had not been determined and the identity of the homeowners was not immediately available.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Fire investigators determined a fire that gutted a home south of Fellsmere Wednesday was ignited by accidental causes.

Firefighters extinguished the 5 p.m. blaze at 12355 83rd St., where the fire was believed to have started in the attic, firefighters said. No one was injured in the fire.

Fire Capt. Robert Von Buelow said Thursday he was still researching and trying to determine the exact cause of the fire but had ruled out arson.

The residents of the home have not been identified, and officials at the Indian River County Chapter of the American Red Cross said they haven't been asked to provide any aid for the residents.
