Apartment building evacuated after suite fire
Fire-Rescue evacuated an apartment building at Casa del Rio, 470 NW 20th St., Wednesday afternoon after a first-floor suite caught fire.
The fire started about 2:30 p.m. in a bathroom, where a plumber was welding with a torch, said Fire Rescue spokesman Frank Correggio. The walls caught fire and smoke spread throughout the building's three stories.
The fire was contained in the one suite and was under control by 3:30 p.m., Correggio said.
No injuries were reported, he said. Damage was estimated at $10,000.
