Tampa Fla--Plane Fire @ Tampa Int'l Airport sends 12 Passengers to Hospital
A 7:00 AM Delta Airlines Flight to Atlanta experienced an engine fire on preparation for take-off. When the plane stopped on the taxiway the passengers activated the emergency escape shutes and evacuated the plane. Ambulances transported 12 passengers to local hospitals for injuries that occurred as a result of using the shutes.
Passengers that wanted to continue were put on another flight that left at 9:30 AM.
Although the engine did catch fire, officials say the fire was contained to the engine and passengers in the cabin were not in any danger.
