Fire destroys clubhouse at West Valley apartment complex
Fire destroyed the clubhouse of a West Valley City apartment complex early Friday.
The fire was reported about 2:45 a.m. by residents of the Brookwood Park Apartments, 3854 W. Rockwood Way (3390 South).
When crews arrived fire was already shooting out the roof of the building, said West Valley Fire Capt. Bob Fitzgerald. The clubhouse, which was a total loss, contained a pool and a meeting area for residents of the complex.
Investigators said Friday it appeared as though a short in an electrical room next to the pool may have sparked the fire. The wiring may have been smoldering for some time before the fire was finally sparked early this morning, Fitzgerald said.
No one was injured in the incident.
