  • Cedar Rapids, Iowa- Drugs, weapons.....FIRE

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - A Cedar Rapids man was arrested after
his house caught fire when officers arrived looking for drugs and
    weapons.
Officials said Justin Richard Ingles, 22, was working with
chemicals in his basement Wednesday evening when officers from the
Linn County Sheriff's Office arrived to serve a search warrant.
Officers were looking for drugs, drug paraphernalia and weapons,
    said sheriff's Capt. Brian Gardner.
Ingles moved the chemicals, which apparently caused a chemical
    reaction and ignited the fire.
The Linn County Sheriff's Immediate Response Unit put out the
blaze with a fire extinguisher, and the house sustained minor
    damage.
A dozen officers and Ingles were examined by paramedics for
exposure to the chemicals but none seemed to need medical
    attention, Gardner said.
"We all came into contact with the fumes," he said.
Police seized a rifle and items used to manufacture illicit
drugs, police said. Two dogs and a cat were removed from the
    residence.
Ingles was arrested on suspicion of three counts of animal abuse
and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He remained at
the Linn County Jail in lieu of $1,300 cash or surety bond.
