A house fire on May 24 destroyed an upstairs bedroom of a northeast Lehi home, but firefighters were able to save the rest of the structure.
The blaze was extingished within 10 minutes after the Lehi volunteer firefighters arrived at the scene.
"They did a real good job. They got there in probably eight minutes after the fire was called in," Chief Dale Ekins said. "We had almost 30 people there and it was on a Memorial Day weekend."
No one was hurt, there were no fatalities because of the accident, he said.
The call went out at approximately 11 p.m. that the Jeff Kearny home at 663 North and 700 East was on fire. When the firefighters and EMTs arrived, the fire had not yet broken through the windows or the roof.
There was an estimated $10,000 damage including the damaged bedroom and heat and smoke damage, Ekins said.
The American Red Cross came on the site and the family's LDS ward bishopric and Relief Society president were made aware of the incident.
