We try every way possible to get them passed out --along with the standard ways --- we have partnered with meals on wheels, in home health services, the visiting head start teachers , and the senior centers.

we had firefighters on med and fire runs check, if they had time, and note on the report if there are smoke alarms in units.

if none and had time to install, they would do it. if not would pass on for follow up install.

The other thing is more than likely calif has a requirement for smoke alarms in rental units!!!! turn it over to whoever controls rental units

  • We continue to see no smoke alarms in recent fires.

Even after 2 people died and a third was awaken by his dog recently we continue to see fires were smoke alarms are absent.
The fire this afternoon had the potential to destroy multiple units. Crews arrived to find heavy fire pushing out windows and doors. Aggressive attack kept it from spreading. Up to 5 units were affected by smoke and or minor fire damage. In several of the units it was noted the lack of smoke alarms.
