  • Feedback on 2006 Conference

Any VSFA members that attended the Conference in St Albans that would like to give feedback to the Host Committee can mail their comments or suggestions to Swanton Fire Dept, PO Box 279, Swanton, VT 05488. I am sure the committee would like to hear from anyone who has suggestions.

I will make sure your feedback gets forwarded on to the Host Committee and County President and they will be considered in the planning of the next conference hosted by Franklin County. Some items were not under the control of the Host Committee but any comments will be forwarded to the appropriate people.

The only complaint most members had was about the banquet. We had 26 tickets, but the hall was so small, we sat a bit of everywhere. We were hoping to all sit together, as one of our members received a VSFA award.

Our suggestion is assigned seating, so that departments could sit together, or at least reasonably close together.

Other than that, everything went off reasonably well. No complaints about the games, the battle of the bands was fun, even if we had to listen to our Assistant Chief on the PA system.

Oh - the golf was a blast, way more fun than anyone should have had!

Hopefully we'll have some responses here!

The banquet had a scheduling conflict at the Larger American Legion. It was already scheduled for a wedding and it would have required the entire weekend to be postponed. The committee had already made other committments so the date was held and smaller facility used.

I know that your Asst. Chief did an excellent job on the PA. I thought they had talked to one of the radio station DJ's or someone until I saw who was talking.

The games are (IMO) more under the control of the VSFA Committee then the locals. The trucks and location are local but what I heard was more issue with the judge's call on one event that had one department upset.

Alot of the details were not scene by the general VSFA members because it was for the Exec Board meetings etc.

I do think the Bay Park and Fireworks was a nice touch. The St. Albans Town Fire Department had a lot to do with making that happen. They deserve a lot of the credit for that portion of the weekend.

I think the Vendors were well represented too. There were many things to look at.

Hope to hear from more people to get more feedback....

I'm kinda bummed I missed Bay Park and the fireworks. But, the Wife and kids demanded some attention, as I was Collins-Pearly all day Saturday, banquet Saturday night, and helped with the cleanup on Sunday.

I'd like to see some others chime in here too!
