Cumberland High School cited for fire-safety hazards

(Cumberland-AP) -- A fire inspection at Cumberland High School
has revealed more than 100 safety hazards.
School officials say many of the deficiencies can be easily
corrected. Others will cost hundreds of thousands, if not millions
    of dollars.
The inspection by the Cumberland Hill Fire Department found 112
deficiencies. They include discharged fire extinguishers,
nonfunctioning door-closing devices and missing exit sign bulbs.
The report also cited the school for using boiler and
heat-exchange rooms as storage areas. It also said the school
improperly stored combustible materials, such as gasoline.
The Providence Journal is reporting that school officials will
hire an architect to estimate the costs of bringing the
    four-decades old building into compliance.
