(Newport-AP) -- The Newport Fire Department has been selected to
receive a 78-thousand dollar grant from the Department of Homeland
Security.
The money will be used to bring a fire education trailer to
schools, businesses and community organizations to educate
residents on fire safety measures.
The grant to the Newport Fire Department was one of 219 made
through the federal government for fire safety programs. Ultimately
seven thousand grants worth a total of 750 (M) million dollars will
be handed out.
