State grant money

I was just wondering if anyone knows how the grant money disbursement is decided on?? I noticed that in round 10, a nearby fire company that is in a wealthy township received money, and I was wondering how the process works!! Thanks for any input!!

If you do some looking there is a fire department in Pa that turned in two grant forms in under two diffrent names and got them both. Wish we would have thought of that

I know that there's one example in the FH.com list that are 2 different cities. Humane Fire Company #1 (round 10) is in Royersford and Humane Fire Company No. 1 (round 6) is in Mahanoy City. Don't know if that plan would've worked...but you never know!!

As for the grants, I am far from being an expert, but I'm pretty sure that there is a formal applicaton process from the state. I know that some companies pay a 'grant writer' to help them craft their application using the buzzwords and terms that the evaluators seem to like. My company chief, using some prior experience with out rejections and some help wrote our grant application that was approved.

There's a whole forum (FireACT grants, I think it's called) devoted to the process. Try stopping in there....you might be pleasantly surprised.

You're confusing the agencies...

Everything 'Devil said is true. However, you're confusing your agencies. The issues you refer to are all related to the FIRE Act process that's going on now, which is federal, not state.

The new state grant program starts in September, with information and applications being mailed to each fire company by the State Fire Commissioner's office at the end of August. For more info on the state program, go to www.osfc.state.pa.us .

Appreiate the correction (and kudos). Seriously though, I've only glanced through the fire act forums and they seem to contain a lot of info about the federal program. I guess we'll have to wait to get the forms for the PA version!

I also like how they tell you how points are awarded for the grant, I wish the Federal Grant had some type of explination.
