Questions about Volly Depts.

I'm taking my 240 test on Weds which I'm super excited about. Anyways I live in Lake County (Willoughby Hills to be exact) and I'm looking for some place to volunteer. Problem is Lake County has nothing but paid career departments now...My question is generally how close do you have to be to a dept to be able to volunteer? I really just want to get out there and get some experience. I want to learn as much as I can and keep the stuff I learned sharp!

I would try and move but I just signed a year lease with the APT I'm in now...Well any suggestions about anything that could help would be great! Thanks in advance everyone your help is greatly appreciated!

All you can do is check surrounding volunteer departments and see what they say. Each department is different. I've seen ones that require you to live in their coverage area and ones, like the one I'm with now, it does no matter as long as you make a certain call percentage each year. Best of luck to you.
