I just joined my volunteer department in Wyoming County in a support capacity aka social membership, which means I will be handling a myriad of administrative and support tasks for the department, such as helping out with fundraisers and other support tasks to help out in any way I can. It is a good way to finally start to give back to my community in a way to show appreciation for a top notch rescue job done at the scene of my 1997 accident. In addition, my involvement with the fight against domestic violence will continue. Domestic Violence is a subject that I think every fire department, as well as the police, should be concerned with, since the potential for the use of fire as a weapon is very real, as an incident in a county near Rochester where a man set fire to his house while his family slept and he was the only one to get out of it alive. He has since been tried, convicted and sentenced. Such incidents are all the more tragic when the perpatrator happens to be a volunteer firefighter as was the case with this man. I am looking forward to many years of service to my department and my community.
