  • Dry Hydrant installation

Anyone ever install a dry hydrant in the Adirondack park. I am currently trying to get a permit to install one and was wondering if anyone else has done this before?

Also contacted the local fire department and soil and water conservation to pitch my idea to them and they are on board to help with the project. Just waiting for the APA approval.

I know there's one on the Moose River Road in Port Leyden's territory. It's been there for at least 11 years. Can't recall seeing any others, off hand, but I'm sure they are there.

5555 - Can't speak for 469, but I suspect they'd want a dry hydrant for the same reason any other fire department would want one - because there are no pressurized hydrants. There are many ponds and streams in the Adirondacks that are just far enough off the road to make drafting difficult.
Opinions my own. Standard disclaimers apply.
