Still here in Sandoval. Just reading the posts, keeping a low profile and learning. Anyone take the new 1 day response to terrorism course given by IFSI yet? Took it a couple of weeks ago in Centralia. Lot of good info although not sure what a small department with limited terrorist response resources and equipment could do besides recongnize and isolate an incident and call in the big dogs. The instructor, Nancy Mason, had a lot of good scenarios and case histories that really made you sit up and think twice. She was up front and honest about the role of small departments though. Said there wouldn't be a whole lot of money coming down the pipeline to small departments for terrorist response and that it would go to several regional designations throughout the state. Anyone else heard this? Also, said that as of Jan 2004 that the class would be required for acceptance to FFIII class.SFPD Member MABAS Division 47

We started a county Specialized Interagency Response Team two years ago. We had to fight the county board for $2000 to get it started!
Well, I found out today that the team is going to receive grants totally $400,000 for additional training and equipment. We were #4 in the top 10 in the state. Is that cool or what? While some were scrambling to get something on the board in the hopes of getting money, our team was training, going to Springfield lobbying for funding and working our tails off to get our group prepared for domestic threats. This will be a big shot in the arm for our local DP efforts. Hang in there. I want to think that funding is on the way.
