    Description: The City of Collinsville (IL) Fire Department is seeking applicants to test for the position of Probationary Firefighter/Paramedic at our suburban St. Louis metro east area department. The Collinsville Fire Department protects approximately 30,000 residents and visitors with 35 employees from two stations by cross staffing EMS and fire apparatus.

    Minimum application requirements include:

    Qualifications: Must have EMT-Paramedic licensure prior to February 28, 2011.

    U.S. citizenship, valid driver’s license and no felony convictions.

    Must be 21-35 years of age, except per Illinois Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.

    Firefighter certifications and related college degrees preferred.

    Must pass rigorous hiring process including written test, physical agility test, oral interview, background investigation, polygraph test, psychological examination and physical examination.

      Yes, but we opened it up a little more in the last contract. It's five miles driving distance from the downtown firehouse. It got us to where we can live in Maryville, Caseyville, the north edge of O'Fallon & Fairview, and into the O'Fallon, Triad, Grant, and Belleville school districts.

      Five miles doesn't sound like much, but it allowed more flexibilty and options.
