Seeing if some could weigh in on part-time firefighter positions in the Chicagoland area. I likely will be re-locating there for a private industry job and am looking for part-time FD spots. I've tried a handful of departments, but they all are looking for you to be a medic.

If you list the area it might be easier to list some possible departments.
For the majority of departments in the Chicago area I've found; no medic & no FF2 = no job. In my area and EMS system, Medic and FF2 requires being employed by a department beforehand. A nice vicious cycle of bull****.

Unless you live in a town that only wants local folks to be paid on call, your probably out of luck. I had a similar problem doing the same thing. The hardest thing is trying to find a town to sponsor you for FFII. Thats not easy to find. Knowing some members of the fire dept to could help your cause as well.
