The Universal Orlando branch of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida plans to adopt Orange County Fire Station No. 7, located in west Orlando.

The nonprofit agency plans to take more than a dozen of its junior members to the fire station for a tour and to meet firefighters on Sept. 11, says Bryan Cobaris, teen coordinator at the Universal Orlando club.

The Sept. 11 event will kick off monthly tours of the fire station by club members, says Cobaris. The youngsters plan to honor the firemen with banners, thank you cards and cakes.

In return, the firefighters will give the club members red hats.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida serves more than 11,000 children in 27 facilities in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties.
