I know of 2 guys that received letters with job offers. One letter from HR and another from the department

123fire, yes my letter was a conditional offer pending psych and medical. As for the two letters, one was from personnel with the offer, the other was to set up a time to get fitted for gear.

to pass the medical, are there certain requirements such as being able to x amount of push-ups in x amount of time or sit- ups or running? Just another thing to worry about.

Physical examination

The physical is an examination to see if you are fit for the job. They will do a urine test, hearing, eyes, EKG, blood, blow test to see if you can handle a SCBA, and poss. a few other things. Nothing to worry about. It's not an agility test, that has already been done.
