kinda same topic but how did they decide who got those freightliner and decon trailers a couple years ago? I was talking to a guy from Sharon way up by the NY line and they have one as does torrington, etc. Just wondered if they applied for them or just were gifted to them. Seem like a decent light rescue when its not pulling the trailer.
Just what you guys in simsbury need more trucks lol jkjk

The decon trailers went to every community that had a hospital. If that community didn't want theirs then it was up for grabs by a neighboring community. ie: Hartford should have gotten 2 because they have 2 hospitals but they didn't want anything to do with it. So we got one and East Hartford got one.
The Haz-Mat trailers are going to communities sponsering a team. West Hartford is the main component to the Capital Region team supported by Simsbury, East Hartford, New Britain, Ellington, and Rocky Hill. Not everyone of these dept.s are getting a trailer. My understanding is we are getting the "Big" one and Simsbury, East Hartford, and Ellington are getting regular ones for our region. All regions will have the exact same trailer and equipement.IAFF member, Love this job! Remember the oath!

The Decon trailers can be kept outside if winterized. The 2 Casino's have one each as well. The prime movers can't store too much. There are small outside compartments and the back is open with shelving and netting. We have haz-mat stuff in ours and RIT equipment. There are 2 haz-mat trailers, one is going to Mystic and one up in the Northeast area on the Eastern side of the state. The CERRIT team based in NL County will be getting a rescue type truck for a Level 1 equipment cache and a command vehicle. This equipment will be stored around the area.
