It sounds like they are slowing down the amount of new recruits.
    Were you effected by this?

Currently, The Phoenix Fire Department is not conducting interviews for Firefighter Recruit. For those that interviewed in 2008 we are anticipating final selection interviews to begin in the summer of 2009.

All applicants currently on the 2008 eligibilty list will remain on the list and be notified when preliminary interview selections begin.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

Changes to the Firefighter Recruit process

The City of Phoenix has made several notable changes to the Firefighter Recruit recruitment process. Please review the following list of changes and key requirements in order to prepare for the process:

    * Hiring process change – All applicants who pass the written exam will be placed on the eligible-to-hire list. The City of Phoenix will not be conducting a CPAT. The Fire Department uses the eligible list to invite applicants for the oral board interview process. The City of Phoenix Fire Department conducts two rounds of oral interviews: a preliminary interview, and a final selection interview. If you pass the preliminary interview, you will be invited to continue on in the process and be scheduled for a final selection interview.

    * Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) - Proof of successful completion of a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) from a licensed agency (local community college, private testing agency, etc.) within 12 months is required at the scheduled date of your final selection interview.
