Hi I just came across this site while looking for a forum on firefighting. I was looking for information on the ISG K1000 Elite Thermal imaging Camera. We have had ours for a little over two years now. It worked fine the first year but we now have cannot keep batteries charged for it. We use it quite frequently and rotate the batteries as well. Anyone else have this camera model and problem as well?

ISG's website is www.isgfire.com. In general, rechargable batteries do not last forever. In fact, 2-3 years is the normal lifespan. There are articles on TI maintenance, including battery info, at www.thermalimager.com and in the Technology section here on Firehouse.com.
My comments are sometimes educated, sometimes informed and sometimes just blowing smoke...but they are always mine and mine alone and do not reflect upon anyone else (especially my employer).

We were told, as you stated, to expect 18 mo. battery lifespan from the company we bought it from and have in the last year replaced the batteries twice, as well our supplier provided us with a new charger which we thought solved the problem until now four months later we are back to square one. THey are supposed to be a 6 hr. battery but ours are down to 10 or 15 min. and one dosen't work at all. Both our supplier and ISG are working on it but we have not got a solution as of yet. Frustrating given the original cost of the unit.

Most TI manufacturers warranty components of a TI for 3 to 12 months. Find out if your batteries are still under warranty and if so, demand new ones.
