  • Tell me about careers in Canada

I am a career, paid professional, firefighter. I have been on the job for six and one-half years. A series of events have taken place in my life, none of them criminal, and I am looking into purchasing property in Canada and becoming a Canadien. I want to stay in the fire service. How do I find out who's hiring and when. I have already researched the immigration laws and some Canadien fire service websites that tell me the requirements. I want to start applying.

If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?

I went to the recommended website. I found it to be very informative, thank you.
Now I have to figure how to get the prerequisite physical ability certifications that I saw posted on the announcements. I have a National Registry EMT certification here in the US. Would that qualify as a prerequisite for an EMT certification?

        Depends on the location.

Canada has not yet standardized it's EMT Certs, but we are heading in that direction. Since EMT Certs are determined by province up here, you will have to call the licensing division in the province you wish to apply to to see if there is equivalency or a challenge process available (there usually is, but you may have to examine again in Canada).

In BC, EMA Licensing is the division you need to speak to. Here is a link to thier site for contact information:

And check this link out for more information on out of province applications.

Again, the site listed above would be a good place to ask those questions, there are a lot of knowledgeable people there on the subject
