  • Calgary FF Recruitment

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out when Calgary is planing their recruitment. I've heard talk that it's in June but when talking to administrative staff of the fire department, I've been told that the hiring process is being recontructed and there's no hiring being done. I went through a fire academy in Houston Tx, and I'm a volunteer fire fighter for South Houston and am trying to get full time work in Canada

    Thanks
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
I work for CFD and the only rumour I've heard is that they'll be having a competition in the summer or early fall. Nothing is, however, written in stone. They are revamping the process as well, but I haven't heard what the changes will be. Best of luck to you.

      Calgary FF recruitment

The City of Calgary has stated we may hire for FF's in January 2004. With this in mind we will start accepting applications during the late summer of 2003. It is true the process has changed somewhat and the new Web page explaining how the process will work is to be posted within the next few weeks if the IT people can keep their end of the deal. The new process will include an EMR requirement as a minimal qualification! The most important changes will be in how we access the candidates. Accountability will be the bottom line. Your input and demeanor will be judged from the onset of process. The citizens of Calgary trust the people we put in uniform. We must protect that trust. Please read the information on the web page carefully, and good luck.

Just a note to tell everyone that the new Web site recruiting for the CFD is now live. It has the info needed to understand the process and print off an application manual. www.calgaryfire.ca www.calgaryfire.ca

Hey eighteenatone how's it going? Are you really at #1? LOL

I actually just stumbled across an article about #1 this afternoon while I was searching Herald archives about the accident Friday for a firefighter friend in BC who wanted more info.

What shift are you on? I've met a ton of firefighters while volunteering for the Firefighters Museum, couple of them work at #1.

Shoot me a PM or email if you like.

I peeked at your profile .... are you going to be at the Allstar Baseball Game on Sunday? If so, (I'll be there for the Museum) pop by and say hi, its always nice to meet people from the forums
