  • WHAT IS YOU DEPT.'S ISO RATING?

What is your ISO rating? Plano and Frisco are the only ISO rating 1 departments in the state of Texas.

  • #2
Greensboro, NC and Culver City, CA are the only departments in the United States that are both ISO Class 1 and accredited. There are NO ISO Class 1 fire departments in the State of Colorado.

To get back to the original question...our ISO rating is a 5.

We just received that rating in March of 2001. We went from a 7 to a 5. May not seem like much of a big deal to some of you but it was quite a step up for us. Now we have our sites set on a 4, we aren't too far away and with a few minor changes we will make it.

By the way, with Allstate insurance on a $100,000 house it is a $59.00 a year savings.

            Take care and stay safe,

Currently, we are a 5-9. We are getting rerated on the 19th.

Milford and Hartford are the only two Class 1's in CT, with Milford receiving their rating a few months ago.

I'm not sure what our ISO rating is because, to the best of my knowledge they have never been to our station. I have been an active member with my department for almost twelve years now and I have never heard of them coming to the station.
I do know the city of Dubious has a class 1 rating with ISO. They are the only department in the general area that I know of that has a ISO rating. There may be others in this area and I just haven't heard about it though. I also don't know what there previous ranking was either.

                      pfr,
I'm not surprised, I'm confused. What was supposed to surprise me? Unless you're talking about CAAS accredidation. CAAS is for ambulances. There are many ISO Class 1 departments around the country. It is an impressive achievement and one which any department should be proud of. CAAS is no cakewalk either.
I was referring to departments that were not only ISO Class 1, but also fire accredited. There are only two as I mentioned. See http://www.cfainet.org/Accredited_Ag...eensboroNC.htm

Granbury (Texas) Volunteer Fire Department is a 3/6.

The first and presently only department in Texas to have a better than Class 9 more than 1000' and to 5 miles from a water source. Magnolia has been evaluated but grade not issued yet.

The first and presently only department in Texas to "officially" pass ISO's hauled (shuttle) water evaluation. Magnolia has been evaluated but grade not issued yet.

The 2nd all volunteer department in Texas to get a Class 3.
