  • problems with drugs

    I don't know if this is the correct forum to post, if it's not mods can you move it.

    I was on another forum and we were having a big discussion on legalizing marijuana. It was actually on a Christian board. My question is this. What do you think of drugs coming from a fire service viewpoint. Are you for legalizing some drugs, what are some stories you have? Basically what is your opinion on the whole drugs thing. I'm not looking to open pandoras box or to start a fire storm (no pun intended).

    I personally am against legalizing drugs although they will still get into the hands of people anyway.

    I can't think of any great role models for kids who put their success on the fact that they used drugs.

      And yet, in all honesty, history is full of successful famous people who were notorious for their drug use.

      That being said, I'm pretty sure that this is the wrong venue to discuss the merits of legalizing marijuana.

      The Code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules.

          I think anybody who has run EMS calls to MVA's or domestic violence situations can attest to the outstanding impact drugs can have on people. I agree, wrong venue for this topic.

            Forgive me for sounding naive but what does it mean "wrong venue for posting"?

            I kind of did not want to post here or should have better worded my post.

              Venue = place, location

              Why didn't you just leave it where it was, in the other forum?

                I would be inclined to say that most people on this forum are professional people who would agree on the negative aspects of legalized drugs. (yeah, I know, alcohol is legal.) Education on the affects of both alcohol and drug use need to be paramount, moderation of use is also a viable topic. However, I have seen people who do not know the definition of Moderate Use. I remember from my years in school, it was pushed into our heads that you had to be 21 to drink, just say no to drugs, and smoking was bad for my health. Maybe I should have said that I do not know of any role model for kids that would say "drugs and alcohol use are what made me successful."

                  Jonnee,

                  Thanks for clarifying. I brought over here just because a lot of the people there were for it. None of them really used drugs from what they say. I was just wondering what the opinions of people who deal this more often were.

                    Narcan, for those with too much narcotic.... Romazicon, for too much anti depressant and Cheetos, for too much mary jane

                      If people think they can get a pass because"Man,I'm sorry.I was so drunk/stoned,I didn't know what I was doing",why can we get a pass for knocking them on their [CENSORED] for being an idiot and saying"Sorry,Dude.I was so sober that I KNEW what I was doing."?
                      I don't think marijuana should be legalized even if it would help the tax base.Too many people do too many stupid things on legal drugs(alcohol)and cause too much misery for me to think pot smokers are any different.
