I have heard that a Baltimore City FF was killed in a live burn today that was being done with recuits. Apparently she was pulled out unconcious and taken to BayView where she passed away. If any of the brothers from up that way have any more info that would be great.

My prayers go out to the firefighters and family members of BCFD.

Female fire recruit dies after training exercise—

    BALTIMORE (AP) -

A female Baltimore fire recruit has died after she collapsed during a training exercise early this afternoon.
City fire spokesman Kevin Cartwright says the woman, whose name has not been released, was fighting a staged fire that was set inside a vacant rowhouse when she collapsed. The exercise was stopped immediately, and the woman was carried to a window and handed over to paramedics.

She was taken to Shock Trauma, where she was pronounced dead.

Two other recruits suffered minor burns in the fire but were not seriously hurt.

The blaze was set in a three-story rowhouse at Frederick Avenue and Calverton Road in southwest Baltimore. About 40 fire academy cadets were participating in the exercise.

Me and FPA(Firefighter/paramedic Appt) Racel Wilson are/were recruits in class 19 at the BCFA, worked with her eveyday, she was there everyday! She worked hard, pushed though every bit of morning PT(ran next to her this morning), followed intructions, got her grind on in the books and was always more than pleasent and nice to be around in any situation! I won't give any more details on her life, the incident or the tactics/training due to my honor and comitment to my clasmates and the BCFD. Our intructors teach us how to do it rigth and how to do it safely to get home to our families! Our hearts are too heavy rigth now, but any love for her and family will go more than a long way to get FPA class 19 back on that training horse at our next morning count-off!

You can count on the Brothers and Sisters showing her family what this job is all about. I for one will be there if I am not working. Anything that is less than 300 miles is a funeral I can attend!

Extend our sadness to the Members and the Family.

RIP sister, God bless her family and watch over her two children.

DWBCFD40: Condolences to you on the loss of your classmate. This will surely be a difficult time for your class and the academy staff. Please, if you can, just let us know about the arrangements when the time comes. I will also be there if not working.
